19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an better service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He saved four early break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
