Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens ignored all credible evidence disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
